Our directors came up with some hints on how to best prepare for your audition:
- Please prepare one of the 3 pieces to sing.
- The character that the song is originally for does not need to be the part you are auditioning for, pick the song that best suits your voice! Also, sing the song in the octave that is comfortable for you.
- It is not required that the song be memorized, but it couldn’t hurt you to show off your skills!
- You will sing the song with the accompaniment CD (ie. No voices singing your part). It is important that we see you can hold your own part with an accompaniment.
- You will be asked to do some simple singing exercises to show us your range, these will be led by the director and will be simple. Don’t worry! We want you to do great!
- Please be familiar with all of the readings, the director may choose ny of them for you to perform.
- They DO NOT need to be memorized, just be comfortable with the text.
- The director may have you read lines for a character that she doesn’t want to cast you for because she just wants to hear how your voice sounds.
- Be flexible and show your personality!
Joke:
- Please be prepared to tell us your favorite joke! We want to see your personality and we also just want to laugh!
Personality:
- This is the most important part! Be yourself!

What is the rehersal schedule for the Jr. plays?
I was told that Mermaid Auditions are on May 11 same time and same place as Aladdin Jr. …so is it May 4-5 or May 11?
Johannah, The audition form will be available at the auditorium the day of the auditions! Break-A-Leg!
Will there be audition forms available before the audition, or do we just fill them out there?
Sarah,
Your child can audition for whichever show they wish. Both shows are geared towards the same age groups. Having the 2 shows at two different times may help with scheduling conflicts such as vacations. Therefor if one show’s set of performances is right in the middle of a trip – then you may want to consider the other, etc. If your child would like to audition for BOTH shows – the most certainly can, but they would have to be there for both auditions. I hope this helps and BEST OF LUCK!
Is it to 9th or 10th graders? I have Had two different answers. I am going into 10th and was wondering if I was eligible?
I apologize for the confusion. Because of this year’s season and the material within Young Frankenstein, we have decided to allow 10 grade and up to audition for Young Frankenstein and 2nd – 9th for The Jr. Productions. It is important to understand, however, that Young Frankenstein carries many adult themes and innuendos within the production. Therefor if you’re under the age of 18 and cast in Young Frankenstein you and your legal guardian MUST sign a permission form stating you understand said material. HAPPY AUDITIONING!
My child is ten. Does she audition for a particular show or both? Thanks for the help!
