One More Chance to Audition!!

Rocky Horror

Hard Road Theatre Productions, in association with the Alfresco Art Center in Granite City, is holding auditions for a fall adult production, The Rocky Horror Show. This show is part of the “Hard Rogue Players” series.

The Rocky Horror Show is a musical satire of the science fiction B horror films of the late 1940s – 1960s. Written by Richard O’Brien, the show tells the story of a newly engaged couple who become trapped in a storm and arrive at the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr. Frank N. Furter, who is in the midst of unveiling his new creation. The couple are seduced by Frank N. Furter and become involved in his twisted plans. The Rocky Horror Show was adapted into a movie in 1975 and that film has the longest-running theatrical release of any film in history.

Auditions will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15th at the Alfresco Art Center, 2041 Delmar Ave., Granite City, IL. Auditions on will only be from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. and will be immediately followed by callbacks. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a Broadway-style song of 32 measures that best suits their voice and shows their range. An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning should also be aware of any conflicts they will have between August 16th and October 19th. Resumes will be accepted. The Rocky Horror Show has adult themes (R-rated material) so only those over the age of 18 will be allowed to audition.

Monster Sightings Confirmed

(Transylvania, Romania)  As a follow-up to our Monday news article, it has been positively confirmed that the so-called “Frankenstein Monster” has been sited in the US Midwest town of Highland, IL.  While it is not known if the monster poses any danger to the populace, local residents are encouraged to view the creature from a sanctioned viewing locale.

Tasked with the safety of the townsfolk, the organization “Hard Road” has prepared several times at which visitors can safely view the monster.  Approved viewings are this evening and Saturday evening at 7:30.  The monster’s final viewing will be on Sunday at 2:00.  Since large crowds are anticipated, Hard Road authorities recommend that passes be obtained soon at their authorized location.

Can the town of Highland survive the Frankenstein creature?  Is it a monster or just a misunderstood conglomeration of body parts?  Only a first-hand sighting will tell.

(Transylvania, Romania)  It was reported earlier today that the so-called “Frankenstein Monster” was on a rampage through the sleepy burg of Highland, Illinois, USA.    Spotted this past weekend, the monster was apparently subjected to intense periods of raucous laughter which seemed to soothe the beast.  However, as a quiet summer morning dawned on Monday, the creature became agitated.  As one homeowner observed, “It’s as though he missed the previous day’s excitement.”

While information from our overseas source is limited and sketchy, it is clear that the grandson of our native Dr. Frankenstein, attempted to recreate the experiments of the good doctor and succeeded to some degree.  However, our information is somewhat garbled, because something about singing and dancing is then mentioned.   However, with those crazy Americans, you never can tell.

It has been suggested that the creature may make a repeat appearance this weekend in the area near the Highland Elementary Auditorium.  Large crowds, anxious to spot the beast, are anticipated and local residents should reserve a prime viewing space early as safe locations are limited.  Word on the street is that these admission vouchers can be obtained at www.hardroad.org (although this rumor is unsubstantiated and people are encouraged to check it out for themselves).

Further bulletins will be issued as more information becomes available.
